Theme: The Kutch district of Gujarat is a confluence of sea water and desert. Theme of our hand-woven stole is based on this same confluence. A medley of two different eco wonders: Sea-water and the Desert.

←A marvelous composition of nature, by the nature. When the water starts flowing back to the sea, it divides into two canals. When fish gets stuck in this canal, beautiful bubbles come out of the water.

←This is the fascinating part of the ecological wonder of the Kutch. After every 15 days, during high-tide and low-tide, the sea water penetrates into the Rann of Kutch and while returning, the water leaves the scratches on the Rann.

←This part reflects the deep ocean, looking at it from far away, it turns from pale to dark.

←Then comes the shore of the sea which manifests a vast sandy area or beach.

←This is the innermost part of the sea which has living creatures like fish and octopus.

Why does this hand-woven cloth matter ? 

This precious hand-woven stole comes to you from the 9 times President Awardee Master craftsmen Family from Bhujodi. The head of the Vankar family Master-craftsman Shri Premji Vankar was awarded as  “Shilp Guru” by the President of India in the year 2006. 

What is Kala cotton ?
Kala cotton is indigenous to Kachchh and by default organic, as the farmers do not use any pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. It is a purely rain fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests, and requires minimal investment.
